The House of Daawat

Three generations,
one golden ladle.

In 1987, Pandit Kishori Lal Sharma set up a two-tandoor kitchen behind Karol Bagh and cooked a wedding for 300 guests. The baraat stayed an hour longer than planned — nobody wanted to leave the dinner.

Today his grandchildren run DAAWAT from a 40,000 sq ft kitchen campus in Chattarpur — yet every gravy still begins the way Panditji insisted: whole spices, slow flame, no shortcuts. We cater weddings, corporate galas and private dinners across Delhi NCR and destination venues from Jaipur to Mussoorie.

We are not a food supplier. We are the family's izzat on a plate — and we have never once forgotten it.

From Tasting to Table

How a daawat
comes together.

The Tasting Baithak

You sit with our planners and head chef at the Chattarpur studio. Twelve dishes on the table, honest opinions invited — the menu is decided by your palate, not our brochure.

Menu Engineering

We balance the courses — regional favourites for elders, live theatre for the young, dietary maps for Jain, vegan and allergy-safe plates, portioned to your exact headcount.

The 48-Hour Mise en Place

Gravies begin two days out on slow flame. Marinades rest overnight. On event morning, sixteen reefer vans roll out of the campus with everything from degs to doilies.

Service, Conducted

A dedicated banquet captain runs your event on a minute-wise cue sheet — counters lit before baraat arrival, dessert flambé timed to the couple's first dance.

The DAAWAT Promise
"Guests forget the décor by Monday.
They tell stories about the food for twenty years."
— Pandit Kishori Lal Sharma, Founder (1934–2019)

Word of Mouth

What the baraat said.

★★★★★

"2,800 guests, three simultaneous cuisines, and not one counter ran dry. My father-in-law — a Old Delhi khansama's son — walked into their kitchen tent to shake the chef's hand. That has never happened before."

Aditi & Vikram Malhotra Wedding · Pushpanjali Farms, Chattarpur · Dec 2025
★★★★★

"We host a 1,200-person annual day every year and had resigned ourselves to 'event food'. DAAWAT's plated service changed what our leadership thinks catering can be. The galouti melted. Grown CFOs queued twice."

Priyanka Nair VP Admin, Fintech unicorn · Cyber Hub, Gurugram · Mar 2026
★★★★★

"The golgappa-wala at our sangeet became a celebrity. Guests still message asking for 'that chaat guy'. Food was hot at 1 a.m. for the last fifty stragglers — same warmth as the first plate at seven."

Sanya Khurana Sangeet · The Grand, Vasant Kunj · Feb 2026
★★★★★

"Jain menu for 400 elders, vegan for my daughter's friends, and a smoke-free live counter row because the venue demanded it. They handled every constraint without once making it feel like a compromise."

Good to Know

Questions, answered straight.

Wedding season (November–February) books out 4–6 months ahead; we hold a date with a 25% advance. Corporate events need just 10 days, and we keep one brigade free for 72-hour rescues — yes, we have saved weddings whose caterer vanished.

Daily. Our kitchen runs segregated prep lines — no onion-garlic Jain, strict vegan, gluten-aware and nut-free plates are cooked, stored and served on colour-coded ware so nothing crosses over. Share counts at the tasting and we map every table.

For confirmed or shortlisted dates, yes — a 12-dish baithak for up to 6 family members at our Chattarpur studio. Exploratory tastings are ₹2,500 per head, fully adjusted against your booking.

Food, cooking crew, service staff (1 per 25 guests), buffet setup, crockery and cutlery, transport within Delhi NCR, and GST. Not included: venue, alcohol licencing, and décor beyond the buffet line — those we quote separately so you never pay for what you don't see.

We run destination daawats across Jaipur, Udaipur, Agra, Rishikesh and Mussoorie. The full brigade, degs and dry stores travel by our own fleet; fresh produce is sourced through vetted local mandis the morning of the event. Outstation logistics are quoted at cost.
